Apple Harvest From Our Own Trees!

Well, it may not be a bumper crop but it's their first year after being planted.  I took a couple pictures as we picked our last few apples from our trees.  I'm very impressed with how well they did this year.  Bagging the apples seemed to work at keeping worms out of the apples.

  1. Not bad for a first year! We really need to remember to bag our little trees, the deer love when they fruit!

  2. Hmm, looks like some version of a rudebekia or sunflower? I'd say the former looking at the leaves. I've seen similar tall ones like this in the wild.

  4. Don't forget tot trim them! The rule is you should be able to throw a hat through the tree and not hit any limbs. Check with a garden shop if your trees are very young, but you don't want all those sucker branches taking off. They zap the energy of the tree and make your apples smaller. Great first harvest!

  7. Congrats, that is very neat! I've never owned anything to plant anything on, but hope to in the future! I love picking produce at the local farm. You can't get any more local than your own yard! New follower from the hop!
